Maggie Mackellar is a writer, living on a fine wool merino farm on the east coast of Tasmania.
After the tragic death of her husband whilst pregnant with their second child, and then losing her beloved mother within the next two years, Maggie left her busy life in Sydney for a three month 'break', returning to the home where her mother had grown up to find solace in the country. Ten years later, after meeting a farmer, she moved her family to Tasmania for another type of country adventure and had to create a new sense of home.
In this episode, Maggie shares how she faced the heartbreak of losing two of the most important people in her life, finding redemption in country NSW, writing in amongst the cycles of farming, the transitions in parenting, and the tenacity and seasons of grief over 20 years.
