February is the New January {happy 2016}

DSC_6906-2Oh hi, and happy 2016!

Sorry for all the cobwebs and tumbleweeds around this joint… it’s been a bit of a ghost town lately. But it’s really lovely to be back. I have missed you and this little heartspace.

If you’ve been a Mummalove blog reader for a while, you’ll probably know that I tend to fly under (fall off?) the radar a bit over December and January. It’s never intentional, but things get pretty busy with the boys at home full time in the leadup to Christmas. And then I find myself FULL of ideas and excitement about the new year, but just lacking in energy and time through those hazy days of summer and tend to lose my blogging mojo. But I definitely made the most of my ‘offline’ time over the past few months.

I did have a lovely time with the boys over their school holidays. In stark constrast to last January when I was a bit of a mess, this break was a much more positive experience for all of us. We had a nice mix of home time, beach getaways, family and friend catchups and other activities. I managed to read a few books between Christmas and New Year while Ben was away from work and did some dreaming about the year ahead. We went with the flow.

And, now here we are in February! Goodness. Is it just me, or do you feel like you’re just about ready for the year to begin now? I read something the other day that said “January is the new February” and that really resonated with me. Now that our big boys are back at school and my littlest Love has started kindy (eek!), I can finally start to tackle that reeeeally long to-do list in between school drop-offs and pickups.

In terms of blogging, I will continue to write weekly posts, but I’m not going to do another year of the 52 Project. Oh, you’ll definitely still be inundated with photos of my children, don’t you worry, but there are topics I’d like to explore in more detail and I found that when I was concentrating on capturing weekly photos of the boys and writing captions, often the ‘real’ writing fell by the wayside. And I probably also need to give my husband back his camera 😉

Anyway, I just wanted to kick off the year, make sure you hadn’t forgotten us and give you a hint of what’s to come this year.

I’d also really love your help with something, if you don’t mind? I’ve put together this little 10 question web survey to find out more about what you’d like to read here on Mummalove this year. Hopefully it shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes (and you can remain anonymous, if you’d prefer). Once you’ve completed the survey, you can go in the draw to win a little Mummalove package – containing an unframed A4 black and white print from The Collective Hub, plus a silicon necklace and wooden earrings from ElleOneNine (total value: $100). I’ll close the survey and get the boys to select a lucky winner at random on 17 February 2016. Thank you!

Survey Prize

Let the year begin! Chat to you during the week and I’ll let you about some of the dreams and projects on the horizon for me this year, plus what I’ve picked for my ‘one little word’ of the year.

Annie x
